Democratic Candidate For U.S. Representative District 4: Kim Weaver
Kim Weaver is running for the seat currently held by Steve King. Kim will face the winner of the Republican contest between Rick Bertrand of Sioux City and Steve King of Kiron.
Kim currently works for the Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, covering fifteen counties and 124 care providers in Northwest Iowa.
Democratic Candidate for State Representative District 17: Jan Creasman
Jan Creasman of Woodbine will be campaigning for the seat currently held by Matt Windschital.
Democratic Candidates for U.S. Senate
Chuck Grassley has announced plans to run for a seventh term in the U.S. Senate, having served 35 years in that position. He will face the stiffest competition of his career, with a number of strong Democratic candidates competing in the Iowa Primary.
Rob Hogg is currently serving his third term as state senator for Senate District 33 in Cedar Rapids after two terms as a state representative in the Iowa House. First elected in 2002, he was re-elected to the Iowa House in 2004, ran successfully for the Iowa Senate in 2006, and was re-elected to the Iowa Senate in 2010 and 2014.
In 2015, Tom Fiegen jumped into the Senate race with both feet. Fiegen is an attorney and Democratic Party politician. He served in the Iowa State Senate from 2001 to 2003. He sought the Democratic nomination in the 2010 U.S. Senate election in Iowa.
The most recent entry in the Senate race, Patty is an American nurse and politician. She was the 46th Lieutenant Governor and previously, the Secretary of Agriculture for the U.S. State of Iowa.
Bob Krause is currently president of the Veterans National Recovery Center, a 501 charitable organization. He is a former Iowa State Representative, and served in the Iowa General Assembly from 1973 until 1979.
The Monona County Democrats will hold their next regular monthly dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday April 13, 2017 , at the Beef N Brew in Mapleton, Iowa. All registered Democrats are welcome and invited to attend.
